French entrepreneur and designer Louis Vuitton's name is now iconic in the fashion world.
At the time Napoleon took his tittle as French Emperor in 1852, his wife hired Vuitton as her personal box-maker and packer. Which at the time provided him a great deal elite and royal clients who seek his services throughout his life and beyond, as the Louis Vuitton brand continued to become the world-renowned luxury brand it is today.
Born on August 4,1821, Anchay. Vuitton descends from a long-established working-class family. His father was a farmer and his mother a milliner. Vuitton's mother died when he was only 10 years old, and not long after his father remarried. It is said that Vuitton's step mother was as wicked as a Cinderella fairy-tale. Such inconvenience mixed with he boredom of the country life and a stubbornness of a boy at only 16 he left home and headed towards the bustling city of Paris.
As teen Vuitton was an apprentice in the successful workshop of Monsieur Marechal a box-maker and packer. In the 19th century such trade was highly respectable in society. Each box made is customized to fit the goods being packed. In no time Vuitton had a remarkable reputation amongst the fashionable class.
By 1859 Vuitton's trunks met such high demands that in order to fulfill requests he expanded to a larger workshop in Asniers, outside of Paris, to fill the incoming requests his luggage stood out because unlike the previously popular dome shaped luggage Vuitton's was rectangular. This made the luggage stackable and far more convenient for shipment. This is considered the birth of modern luggage.

Like everyone else Vuitton had to fight to keep his company successful. He had to fight to gain back his company after the Franco-Prussian War that ended the French Empire. The war took a toll on Vuitton's business, upon his return to Asniers the village was in ruins, his staff dispersed, equipment stolen and shop destroyed. Despite all he was determined to restore his business. Just a few months later he built again, this time at a new address and with it came a great focus on luxury.
Vuitton for 20 years continued operation, innovating high-quality, luxury luggage until his death on February 271892 at the age of 70. Louis Vuitton's brand did not die with him, his son Georges along with generations of Vuitton's they continued the luxury leather and lifestyle brand it is today.
