I am going to begin with the Paleolithic Period also known as the Stone Age. The earliest humans are traced back to this period in history. The Paleolithic Period is dated back about 700,000 years. In which complex, specialized and diverse regional stone tools and industries were introduced.

The Paleolithic Period had two main forms of art: small sculptures and monumental paintings found on cave walls.

Venus of Willendorf

These monumental arts thrived in Western Europe inside limestone caves. The caves have preserved an abundance of carvings and paintings that often displayed animals. The use of the paintings remains a mystery to this day.

Now let's talk fashion!

Archeological evidence shows that humans began to wear clothes to protect themselves from the cold of the Ice Age. Before the Ice Age it is believed that humans would be naked or would cover themselves with mud and charcoal. Once it dried these coverings would protect them from the elements.

Clothing from the Paleolithic Period

Due to their lifestyle of hunting and fishing, clothing had to allow mobility as well protection. Later on different cultures and/or religions were also reflected on their clothing.

Now let's fast forward to today!

Fashion and clothing are a part of everyone's lives whether you follow the latest trends or not. The simple coverings against the elements have evolved immensely over the decades.

2022 fashion

Even through this fashion evolution comfort, mobility and protection are large factors for anyone buying clothes, especially for everyday uses. The main change has been the complexity of garments and what they are made from, while still using the original idea of animal and plant fabrics.

So although we have moved on from covering our bodies with mud to fashionable clothes it is important to see and understand the change that the Fashion Industry has gone through.

Also don't forget it is still changing!
