The four weeks featuring fashion shows in Milan, London, New York, and Paris bring new exiting fashion trends for the Fall/Winter seasons of 2023. We saw red dresses, feathers, bows, tartans and much more! Today I will focus on my top 3 favorite trends of this coming season.
Bringing Back the 90's style: Quintessential Style
A style that dates back decades is making its way back on the runway. Some of the major fashion houses presented collections showing off their quintessential style. This trend features pieces with a fitted waist, straight skirts, and corolla dresses. Designers from Prada, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga brought a great 90s style back to modern fashion runways.

The word quintessential means pure, most characteristic, and most typical. The corolla dress has a very modest style that was born in the 90s. This dress can have different types of skirts, but the name is in the modest neckline that covers all the chest area and beautiful semi puffed sleeves.
The image below is a non-luxury corella style dress listed on Amazon for only $33.14. With this beautiful light blue dress, you can follow the trend this fall, for a nice evening out with friends and/or family.

The Tartan
This is once again a trend that is creeping its way back into fashion is the tartan style. This is more commonly known as plaid, the famous crisscross, colorful lines that can be used in any kind of garments. Burberry brought us a pop of colors with this style, combining pink and purple as well as yellow and blue on the New York runway.

The history of tartan takes us to Scotland, in their kilts and bonnets. This was worn by royalty and peasants throughout its great history. Tartan was originally made from wool and was used as everyday clothing by Highlanders, the largely Gaelic-speaking clan societies of Scotland’s north. And in the 18th century it became a symbol of allegiance of Scotland to Charles Edward Stuart, who led tartan-wearing rebels into England in the year 1745.
Now this tartan style is not only on our runways but is available for all in modern fashion even if you don't have hundreds to spend on a garment. To keep up with the rising trend get a few flannel/ plaid shirts to add to closet. These are very easily paired with jeans or leggings for a casual everyday look.
Trend 3: Leather
Yes, leather is already a fashion staple but this fall designers have brought it to new life, with new innovative designs. From Louis Vuitton to channel we see things such as embroidered flowers and decorative grooves. Leather was used in suits designed by Ludovic de Saint Sernin. Bottega Veneta and Alexander McQueen take this innovation further to show not only their ability to work with leather but also giving the impression of other fabrics such denim and cotton.

The leather craft has been around for over 7,000 years. The animal skins were dried, with the sun, then animal fats would be pounded to it to soften the skin, and to preserve the leather they would salt and smoke it. This process was then changed to a chemical process in the 17th century. Leather was used for many things such as: armor, boots, writing surfaces, jewelry, tents etc. In some culture leather was considered a symbol of high status.
Now if you want to keep up with this amazing trend then there are many affordable options out there. Leather, because of its lengthy and costly production, will be at a higher price than everyday clothes but if invested in and taken care of it can last a very long time. So, to stay on trend with our runway fashions Roots has a great selection of leather jackets that will go with any outfit you choose. Leather is a great essential to have in our closet, it can be made into a casual or elegant outfit.
